Q.28 What is the difference between a research paper and a technical article?        (2004-05)
Ans.      A technical article is different from a research paper. Some major differences between a research paper and a technical paper are :
(i) A research paper comes in the category of the semi-technical writings.
(ii) A research paper is related to the practical aspect of a problem whereas the technical article takes into consideration the practical as well as theoretical aspects of a problem.
(iii) A research paper simply relates to the conclusions derived after conducting experiments in a laboratory or working in a library and going through several books. On the other hand, in order to produce technical article, the writer would interact with others in preparing reports, user manuals, proposals and websites.
(iv) The language of a research paper will be different from a technical article. The vocabulary of a research paper and of a technical article will be in accordance with its subject-matter. The technical article will include the technical terms of the area of study.

Q.29 Highlight some of the major methods of writing a technical paper.     (2005-06, 08-09)
Ans. A well-written technical paper helps the professional to achieve their goal and excel in their professional skill. Much of their future progress depends upon their writing technical papers. Hence some good methods of writing the technical paper should be adopted.
(i) Library and laboratory (ii) Online source for collecting and analyzing data (iii) Interviews, surveys, discussions and questionnaires.

Ans. Project Report: -
   A project report is a formal report, prepared by a professional at the completion of his project work. In this formal document, he records all the data and also his analysis and findings in objective style. Like other formal reports, it contains all usual elements such as cover page, title page, table of content, summary, introduction, conclusions and so on. A project may be internal as well as external.
Thesis: -
Thesis and dissertation writing are also a form of written communication. They should present information and ideas clearly and effectively. They provide a detailed written account of the data obtained after conducting some survey or research in a particular field. A thesis or dissertation should be prepared carefully and effectively. Effective writing depends as much on clarity and readability as on content. The organization and development of ideas, the unity and coherence of presentation and also command of sentence structure, grammar and diction are all important considerations, as are the mechanics of writing-capitalization, spelling, punctuation and so on.
